Do you know were the owl in EUSO 2014 logo comes from?

The Athenian tetradrachm (four drachmas) coin was the most widespread currency in the heyday of Athens in the fifth century BC until the time of Alexander the Great, when the Macedonian coins prevailed. It was accepted in transactions throughout the Greek world, even in cities which did not keep a friendly attitude towards Athens.

On the one side is depicted Goddess Athena and οn the other the symbol of the city of Athens, the owl. This coin was better known simply as the Athenian owl.

Centuries later, the Athenian owl tetradrachm shown again in the Greek national side of the coin of one euro.
